
The Berenson Fellowship 2027–2028 at I Tatti – The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence, Italy, supports scholars researching “Italy in the World” and the historical connections between Italy and other cultures during the Renaissance.
Fellows receive a US$5,200 monthly grant and a relocation supplement of up to US$1,800. When available, I Tatti provides rent-free accommodation, with utilities paid by the Fellow. A housing subsidy may be available when an apartment is not provided. Fellows also gain access to the Biblioteca Berenson and Harvard’s extensive research resources.

Applications are welcome from scholars of all nationalities, with priority given to early- and mid-career researchers.
Eligible fields include history, literature, philosophy, architecture and the arts, music, and history of science, particularly research examining connections between Italy and regions such as Africa, Asia, the Mediterranean and Latin America.
Applications can be submitted in English or Italian through the I Tatti online application system. Applicants must also arrange two recommendation letters, which are due by 21 November 2026.
